Welcome to Richard Knight's website

I'm a painter, moving between watercolour for life painting, to oil and acrylics on canvas and board for landscapes.

The images I create are a response to what I see around me, things I find visually appealing and the interpretation I make in putting those images onto a two dimensional surface.

Exploration of surface is key to what I do, discovery and interaction of materials, oil splashed with turpentine, salt dropped on watercolour, textures and mixed mediums that excite me because it's a new discovery crossed with experience in order to sometimes get unexpected effects that take the mood of a painting into another place.

Digital art is something I've become increasingly interested in, again it's so immediate and with huge potential in my work - something I've used a lot in my illustrations, so I've now included a separate gallery for these images.
